Patricia Farrell, Flute and Piccolo

For the past 20 years, Patricia has played flute and piccolo regularly with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and has been a member of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. She is also a member of the Throckmorton Chamber Players, which plays regularly in Mill Valley.

Patricia Farrell graduated with a Bachelors of Music in flute performance from USC. She held the piccolo position in the Long Beach Symphony and Long Beach Opera Orchestra for nine years. Other playing experiences include the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Carmel Bach Festival, Pacific Symphony, Laguna Festival of the Arts, and the Orange County Chamber Orchestra.

Patricia founded the trio, The Bach Players and the quartet, The Newport Chamber Players (both consisting of strings and flute), which performed for more than 10 years in the Los Angeles area.

For 18 years Patricia sang in the St. Basils and St. Charles Borromeo choirs singing renaissance masses and Gregorian chant under conductor Paul Salamunovich. She considers this experience an important part of her musical career.

For fun she plays music with her daughters Katrina (violin and voice), and Elisabeth (harp). They also have a Celtic group and have regular sessions with friends.
